This year your child's "homework" will consist of reading. It is my goal to encourage students to read more often for the fun of it. No reading logs or reading homework assignments necessary! Just read, read, read! I recommend that students read for at least twenty minutes each night and that parents encourage their child to do so.
Math facts (basic addition, subtraction, and multiplication) should be practiced daily if your child cannot quickly answer math facts without counting on fingers.
If a student doesn't complete work during the school day, it may be sent home to be completed. If not returned the following day, missing work will be completed during recess. Students will not call home if an assignment is forgotten at home.
When absent the student will have the same amount of days s/he was absent to make up any missed work. For example, if a student is absent 3 days, s/he will have three days to make up absent work.
Absent work is NOT sent home ahead of time for vacation. The student will collect absent work when s/he returns to school. The student can continue reading and practicing math facts while gone.
